Assistive Technolgoy

Sensory Equipment focuses on the five main senses: taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing. Sensory Equipment also assists with body awareness and balance. Assistive Technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software program or product that is used to increase, maintain or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.

Sensory Equipment and Assistive Technology fosters independent living for people with disabilities, promotes health equity, enhances healthy moms and children / families and supports behavioral health / mental health. Depending on the specific need, Sensory Equipment and Assistive Technology can aid individuals with life quality, independent living, developing key life skills, managing difficult behaviors, anxiety and stress reduction, self regulation and other mental health crises by promoting regulation, improving focus and increasing participation.

Examples of Sensory Equipment and Assistive Technology includes, but is not limited to any of the following:

  • therapy balls / brushes
  • putty
  • weighted blankets
  • noise reducers
  • braille devices
  • PECS (picture exchange communication systems)
  • and more!

Sensory Equipment and Assistive Technology enables many individuals to live life to their fullest at home, at work and in the community by providing them with tools needed to better succeed at life – this not only benefits them, but also all of society.

The To The Rescue HOPE Foundation was established to support safe and affordable housing, employment opportunities, transportation, healthy living, community access, advocacy and other essential needs for the at-risk population (primarily elderly and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities) in Iowa, Colorado and Arizona. Our mission is to empower and support at-risk individuals and those assisting them to live their best lives. Our goals are to secure funding and resources to improve the quality of lives for the at-risk population and our vision is to be the premier and largest recipient of grants, donations, etc. for the population we serve.
